I really hate to add myself to the list of people pestering you for shipping updates, but I would really appreciate some reassurance that my order is actually in the pipeline somewhere.
Hmmmm. Something mysterious is going on with the itch interface and I don't see you. Send your purchase email and mailing address to dearleadergame@gmail.com.
I would like to poke test my book too (....that doesn't sound as family approved without the accompanying video). When should we expect the rest of them to ship?
Its here and beautiful! Cant wait to dive into it this weekend. It really is a gorgeous book. You have been great Tim and thanks for crafting such an awesome thing and sharing it with us!
I received an email last week saying my book was shipped, but it only contains an order number. Since then, no news, and I paid extra for fast shipping...
is it possible to also get a tracking number as well. Just to double check at least that they did send it to the correct country. It took a amusing amount of emails to get them to get both the correct street AND country so I wouldn’t be surprised if some postman is walking around Norfolk with my book rather than Norway.
People! Get this! I ordered twelve copies of TYOV for myself just so I can have them on hand. My order arrived today and there was ONE copy in the box. Not twelve.
you should demand you refund yourself immediately! As someone who lets themselves down regularly I’ll say you can’t let yourself get away with this. Give your self a inch and you’ll take a mile.
Unfortunately it looks like my copy was mailed into the ether. It was shipped to an incomplete address, marked as delivered and has zero accountability. Blackbox authorized it to be delivered without a signature and to be placed outside. So it was just dropped off...somewhere in the city. I can't follow up on it either as the delivery notice was also delivered to oblivion. So... my book's gone before it even arrived. Sigh.
Edit: Irony of this is that I got the email confirmation from blackbox saying "here's where we're shipping it" which was the correct address, only for them to circumvent their own confirmation and then ship to a different address.
Oh that's ridiculous (of Blackbox, not you)! Email me about this at dearleadergame@gmail.com. Include the screenshots of the different addresses if you don't mind.
As mad as I've been about their nonsense with the delay, they have been super good about dealing with problems in the past. If you can't find it you'll be getting another book super soon.
Hopefully it doesn't come down to that. It's a shame that blackbox is marring this experience so severely. I don't blame you for their faults but to say I'm displeased with the fulfillment center's handling of this situation would be an egregious understatement. Thanks to your prompt, same day response, I'm willing to wait further.
The book arrived today, against all odds, even though it was delivered to oblivion itself. My guess is that the capricious horrors beyond the veil of space and time returned the book to fedex so it could be delivered to the proper (corporeal) address.
Holy shit, a book showed up in my mailbox today! 74 days from order to arrival. That's only about 0.02% of a thousand years, so still plenty of time to enjoy. Looking forward to playing with the physical copy, Tim!
So - apparently my order was shipped, but with part of my adress missing. I wrote them back about it, but havent heard anything. I REALLY hope that its just an email mistake, since the first time they wrote me, they had my full adress, but on the actual shipping mail, my floor and side numbers were missing.
Sure - Sadly, I can't track it. I tried by googling blackbox shipping, and found what I think is their tracking. I entered the number, and my email adress, and it found nothing.
Dear lord - this is delivered by Fedex - They are completely unreachable by phone. They left a message on my door at home that they had been there. This was FINAL NOTICE and I had to contact them to make a new schedule. So, I tried rescheduling, but they will ONLY deliver on weekdays and I am at work then?
So I tried to redirect the adress, but then it said the delivery would be delivered at 6 Pm instead? Meaning, I was at home at that time.
I've been on hold with Fedex for 23 minutes and for 41 minutes on two calls now, and they don't pick up.
I don't think a Thousand Years will be enough to get the book to me... :-/
edit: Oh, their chat function also disconnects me without fail...
I don't think its a mistake, my book was "Delivered" to oblivion yesterday. It was delivered to a location without an address. Blackbox approved release without a signature or any accountability so... it's gone into the ether.
Hi I saw your comments about orders after like june 26 ~ being stuck in shipping. Mine was just a couple days after that so I understand the wait. However, I noticed several people were getting your updates on the shipping situation via email. the only email I received about this order was about itch losing my delivery address or something and instructions on how to update the order through itch, as well as several about the Ennies. Is there a way I can sign up for the shipping update emails somewhere?
Mini-update: A whole bunch of stuff moved from "transmitted" to "packed".
Everything, I think. I mean, the stuff that hasn't been shipped.
"Packed" is a new tag, as far as I know. I don't think I ever saw it before the move. Maybe it's something specific to this new warehouse or it could be that a fully functional warehouse moves so quickly that the Packed tab is never around long enough to be seen.
A few more things were marked as shipped. There's a pattern of a sort in what is getting moved out but it's not worth going into.
I got an email from the fulfillment folks saying that my book are their priority right now. I've been practicing a whole new set of dramatic gesticulations so I'm ready if the stuff ain't shipping this week.
That's unfortunate. When I saw the email it didn't even phase me even though I've checked constantly for weeks now lol. Hopefully yours comes soon though!
I picture a frazzled warehouse employee hunched over a work table in a completely empty warehouse, frantically pasting scraps of newspaper, phonebooks, and old photographs into empty composition books, hoping that the customers won't notice.
Not sure where to post or mail you with this but i found a typo on page XXII under the section about playing the game tips
"Be uncomfortable. Your protagonist is a vampire, even if you try to keep them decent and humane. Terrible and delicious things are going to happen. You shouldhave moments of discomfort"
"Shouldhave" should be two words.
Hope this helps, I am enjoying reading and am patiently awaiting my physical book!
Edit: Just wanted to add that I had backed and then backed out of the initial KS, wish I hadn't but money was a thing that kept me from being able to stay in. I'm glad i was able to revisit and finally get my hands on a copy. Thanks.
That's a good catch! I'd been alerted to it in time to get a corrected PDF to the printer, fortunately. No idea how that crept into the text because it wasn't on the first printing and I don't think I adjusted anything on that page.
Hi Tim! When I saw your message that the books finally arrived in the warehouse, I figured that I was golden. However, I'm moving and September 7th will be the last day at my current address. With the shipments taking longer than expected, is there anything that can be done? I'm worried that Murphy's Law is going to show up and I'll miss my shipment by a day or two. Thanks!
Just chiming in that I got an initial Blackbox email and despite it saying they were shipping me a copy of the book, it said it was free--and I never got a shipping notification. So, I'm slightly worried that something is off.
It looks like the boxes are going out the door slower than expected. They make up that first email when the label is ready and I guess they send the next one when it goes out the door
It might be. They usually take about a week to get a big Kickstarter shipment out, and I dumped a LOT of orders on them at once. If we are being generous two of those days were a weekend.
But: One of the random games I checked had a delivery date estimate on it Monday and now it doesn't. So it seems like they might have rolled back a step or something.
I don't think we need to be worried yet, but I know I'm feeling impatient.
EDIT: They haven't sent your package yet, just to be clear.
It looks like the boxes are going out the door slower than expected. They make up that first email when the label is ready and I guess they send the next one when it goes out the door.
I have a question, I had ordered a solid copy sometime in early June, Although I did not put in some information at first so it did not work, I did end up putting in the information, It may be a delay in shipping or something but I have not got the Solid copy yet, if possible can you Provide some information to why? (Its ok if you don't have any information though)
Oh that's weird. I can see your info when I export all the customer information but I can't see it on the site's web interface. Somehow you fell through a crack and I apologize. Your timing, however, is excellent in that there was a huge warehouse delay and everything only shipped today anyways.
I'm putting in a shipping request that'll go out Monday. If your address has changed since June please let me know ASAP.
I got the email from them that said my order was received, but that's it. I still haven't received any notification of shipping. Do I need to be worried?
I just emailed you your tracking number. It's not active yet. I guess they are rolling the orders out of the warehouse slower than they used to--not unreasonable since they just moved but it is frustrating.
I’m very glad I was able to see the email come in within 10 minutes since they were going to send my book to Poland not Norway. They almost got my street name correct so points for effort.
excellent, I’m a little gun shy with deliveries at the moment. One delivery had one letter missing and ended up taking a extra 2 months to get from the capital to my home.... I can’t imagine how long having the wrong country would add...
It's easy to have notices fall through the cracks so I'm sharing it here too: The warehouse emailed me today to share that the books have arrived and are ready to ship!
I'll give 'em an updated shipping list today so they'll have it AM tomorrow. After that it usually to take them up to a week to get all the orders out of the door. Watch for an email from Blackbox if you are one of the folks who've been waiting.
Also: I should have new PDFs up by the end of the weekend.
I just want to say that even when the update emails have contained bad news they’ve left me with a smile on my face. I hope the good(Well deserved Awards etc) has outweighed the bad(warehouses/the world in general)
I would really like to order Thousand Year Old Vampire, rpg, but the shipping cost of 35-40 USD to Europe for a book is really prohibiting. I'm sorry I cannot afford such sums. Would be glad to buy your game when you find some alternative solution.
Yeah, shipping outside the US is stupidly expensive and I'm sorry. Contact 3rd Space Games in the UK and ask them about pre-ordering a second printing copy. It'll be cheaper.
Hi, ordered TYOV on 25 June, any recent update regarding shipping (To UK/EU) would be greatly appreciated. Also I have not received any mass mailings that have been previously mentioned.
Nuts, I'm sorry you missed out on the big emails. If you don't get a shipping email from blackbox by the end of next week please email me at dearleadergame@gmail.com
Tim, not sure if you're aware but the DTRPG POD version has an extra page inserted at the front so all the pages are shifted by one so left is on the right and vice versa. Bit of a shame because part of having the print version is all about the beauty of the design! I can see the POD has been pulled for now, but I ordered it 6 weeks ago when it was still available. (Just arrived today in Australia.)
I will be updating the DTRPG POD EU version with the second printing text.
I wish I could either print a proper fancy version in the EU or get set up with an efficient way to get books to the EU and warehouse them. I just emailed a czech art book company I used to be friendly with to see if they can advise me.
But yeah, it's just stupidly expensive to send stuff.
Hi, I ordered the physical book on July 7th and totally understand the pains of shipping, warehousing, etc, and don't really mind it arriving late. My concern is that I'm going to be moving at the end of the month and don't want the book to get lost between addresses. Is there a way to update the address to the place I'm moving to? Additionally, I haven't received any emails other than my confirmation from PayPal, is there a way to get on the list? Thanks!
Email me your new address at dearleadergame@gmail.com. Include an email I can add to the mailing list. Know it's a mailchimp thing so it's easy for it to get filtered out.
Hi, I just wanted you to know that I appreciated the inclusion of the community copies so much that I ordered before the SU&SD [edit: review] had really gotten started. Well done, and I look forward to receiving my book.
The shipping of the 'nice' book to Australia remains outrageous, made even worse by the USD to AUD conversion rates. One copy of the book = $112AUD. Meanwhile, DTRPG are no longer offering POD copies.
Any ideas as to how I could get a physical copy for a somewhat more reasonable rate?
The shipping is ridiculous. How do you get books from the US normally? If I pack the book myself and send it the cheapest postal method it's $27USD, and that doesn't include me shipping the book to myself to reship it.
Is there some secret method that I don't know about?
The DTRPG thing is getting fixed. If they make me order an approval copy then it'll be a few of weeks, if they skip the approval process then it might be Friday.
Perhaps the solution is to pop the book in a _relatively_ fitted postpak? (That's what we call the envelopes with bubble wrap inside down here in Australia). That's how most of the Australian booksellers ship single-title orders, it means you're paying for the weight of the book and nothing else. How much does each 'fancy' book weigh?
I'm shipping them in a tight cardboard sleeve. I think the shipping weight is 1lb9oz.
What I need is an EU or even UK warehouse so I can take advantage of the sweet, sweet cheap subsidized shipping. I bet it'd be 10USD to ship from the UK to AU. The most cost effective way to do THAt is to actually print a round of books in the EU but that's a stretch right now.
Part of the catch to all of this is that the warehouse I work doesn't do postal service at all, just Fedex and UPS. I balanced the pros and cons and let them handle the international shipping--it's pricier but it gets there in a week instead of a month. It's also unrealistic for me to keep up with shipping on my own.
I just picked up a PDF version, will sit down with a friend of mine who has a background in commercial printing and see if we can come up with some kind of paper stock and binding 'recipe' for an OK physical copy via OfficeWorks (our version of Staples).

I don't see an order under this username for itch. Email me your order email and shipping address at dearleadergame@gmail.com.
Is it possible that you pre-ordered on Backerkit? That won't ship until late Octo/Nov.
Is there a best way to find the status of the order? It seems like the best way to find out if there is an issue is to ask here.
Hmmmm. Something mysterious is going on with the itch interface and I don't see you. Send your purchase email and mailing address to dearleadergame@gmail.com.
I would like to poke test my book too (....that doesn't sound as family approved without the accompanying video). When should we expect the rest of them to ship?
Oh shit, I looked yours up and there's an issue. I'll email you.
I’m still unsure if it’s really here but it’s passed the poke test so I’m prepared to accept the reality at least until further testing (more pokes).
Jeez don't make it mad.
Do NOT poke happy fun ball!
Though I suppose since it is a boo...ARGH Its got my neck!
No!! The fangs, the fa...

Just wanna say that now that I finally have my book, it is a fantastic piece of work. Visually, creatively and mechanically!
The warehouse debacle was pretty irritating but I'm glad I waited it out. Thanks for all your hard work Tim!
I made it look better by building up desire and drama with the warehouse ruse. In a few weeks you'll realize it's a poorly photocopies pamphlet.

Its here and beautiful! Cant wait to dive into it this weekend. It really is a gorgeous book. You have been great Tim and thanks for crafting such an awesome thing and sharing it with us!
Thank you so much! The book is made of congealed time, about two months a book. Hence the wait.
My book arrived this week and I can’t say enough how Tim’s frequent (and frequently distraught) updates kept me in good spirits while I waited.
I can't wait to find new things to mildly disappoint you with.
I received an email last week saying my book was shipped, but it only contains an order number. Since then, no news, and I paid extra for fast shipping...
Does anyone know their tracking url?
I sent you a tracking number just now. Check the email you bought the game with.

People! Get this! I ordered twelve copies of TYOV for myself just so I can have them on hand. My order arrived today and there was ONE copy in the box. Not twelve.
Ha!
I'm going to write myself a friendly but stern letter.
One of us! One of us!
this is horrible. i don't like this.
you should demand you refund yourself immediately! As someone who lets themselves down regularly I’ll say you can’t let yourself get away with this. Give your self a inch and you’ll take a mile.
I haven't replied to my first email yet. What do I do?
maybe bribery will get it sorted, surprise yourself with a home cooked meal?
I'd be afraid I'd poison me.
Out of the blue a box showed up with your wonderful book in it! Thanks Tim for keeping us (me) entertained and up to date with all the chaos.
I hope it jumped out and yelled "BOO!"
Sigh.

Oh that's ridiculous (of Blackbox, not you)! Email me about this at dearleadergame@gmail.com. Include the screenshots of the different addresses if you don't mind.
I've emailed you the details. Let's see what blackbox has to say, though my expectations of them are exceedingly low.
The ritual worked.
Holy shit, a book showed up in my mailbox today! 74 days from order to arrival. That's only about 0.02% of a thousand years, so still plenty of time to enjoy. Looking forward to playing with the physical copy, Tim!
Clearly this is an elaborate Blackbox trick. Don't fall for it.
At what point should we worry if we haven't received a shipping notice?
For whatever unfair reason yours is just in the "packed" stage. Which I guess is better than "on fire" but not by much.
“Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
― Terry Pratchett, Jingo
I shall be patient ^_^
Now that the books were shipped, what's the ETA?
a few people got them in three days, others seven. but i'm not sure. this is a new warehouse and things are different.
So I guess an estimate of about a week is a good one.
That seems fair!~
So - apparently my order was shipped, but with part of my adress missing. I wrote them back about it, but havent heard anything. I REALLY hope that its just an email mistake, since the first time they wrote me, they had my full adress, but on the actual shipping mail, my floor and side numbers were missing.
Just thought you should know.

Sure - Sadly, I can't track it. I tried by googling blackbox shipping, and found what I think is their tracking. I entered the number, and my email adress, and it found nothing.

I don't think a Thousand Years will be enough to get the book to me... :-/
edit: Oh, their chat function also disconnects me without fail...
Gah! I'm so sorry! Email me at dearleadergame@gmail.com
Hey - today I managed to get a hold of a real person. So, hopefully they will deliver the package at my workplace to morrow! I'll let you know.
The book is getting more and more worth, in terms of storytelling, with this kind of beginning :-D
Oh, and sorry if I sounded upset - its not your fault and I'm sure we'll figure it out!
I don't think its a mistake, my book was "Delivered" to oblivion yesterday. It was delivered to a location without an address. Blackbox approved release without a signature or any accountability so... it's gone into the ether.
Just got a shipping noticification from blackbox for my copy... of an older version of it... umm...
I hesitate to ask... but are there major differences between that version (1.4 I think), and the current one? I mean... content-wise?
layout mistakes and typos were fixed. a few minor bits of scribbly art were added. The biggest mistake in the first printing no one even noticed.

Okay will do thanks!
Popping in really late to say I did get mine a while back! Its in great condition and i absolutely love the game so far
Awesome!
I have a tracking number and my book's in NJ! Check your email, people!
The book starts in NJ, I think, so don't get too excited yet. (But yeah, they're arriving places)
Got it today. My partner loves it! I got this for her birthday back in July.
A little longer and it'd arrived in time for next birthday.

Update: about a third of the packages have been moved to "shipped".
Can report that I just got my Blackbox "shipped" email! Super excited to have it next week!
Not me yet *tears*
That's unfortunate. When I saw the email it didn't even phase me even though I've checked constantly for weeks now lol. Hopefully yours comes soon though!
You have a tracking number issued! Look in your spam filters.

Yeah, they are having some hang time before actually shipping. A little is okay but too much is a belly ache.
Just chiming in that I got an initial Blackbox email and despite it saying they were shipping me a copy of the book, it said it was free--and I never got a shipping notification. So, I'm slightly worried that something is off.

Gotcha! Well I won't be too bothered about wondering if it'll be there when I get home or not then lol. Hopefully that second email comes soon!
Well, I got one email from them - 5 days ago, and thats it. No sent confirmation. Is this normal?
It might be. They usually take about a week to get a big Kickstarter shipment out, and I dumped a LOT of orders on them at once. If we are being generous two of those days were a weekend.

I think that's good. Not all the orders have gone out but they are "transmitted". Do you have a tracking number on there?
They did not provide a tracking number, but they did give me an "order number".
Their message indicates I should receive another email, but I have not yet. I likely just need to remain patient.
"We've received your order from This Machine Games. We'll send you another email once your order ships."
Oh shit! I'm surprised it was able to get through the system that way.
Today I glanced at the Scandinavian letter sets in some addresses and just felt bad.
I replied with the correct address, but it was unclear if that would just cancel my order and I’d have to reorder with the correct address or ....?
They'll adjust it on their end.
excellent, I’m a little gun shy with deliveries at the moment. One delivery had one letter missing and ended up taking a extra 2 months to get from the capital to my home.... I can’t imagine how long having the wrong country would add...

Do you have a link or would I need to email them about a UK print?
It's these folks

Hi, ordered TYOV on 25 June, any recent update regarding shipping (To UK/EU) would be greatly appreciated. Also I have not received any mass mailings that have been previously mentioned.
same here except I am in the U.S and have not received any emails about shipments.
Yeah, that error was weird and is getting fixed. Also: Holy shit, that took a long time to get to the AU.

Hey I purchased the physical copy of the book back in June I was wondering if I am getting this or not.
Is this the shipping co that has borked up the warehouse move? https://www.blackbox.cool/
It seems to be unborked now so don't poke the bear as it packs boxes.
Holy shit, the bear mention just made me remember a dream about a tiger trapped in a car.
Hi, will the second printing also be available in the EU version? The shipping costs from the US are insane ^^'
That sounds great, I will keep an eye on any update regarding this, would love to get a couple fancy prints of the book!
+1 to this, I'm in a similar dilemma.
Hopefully the Ennies (congrats Tim!) will make this great game more visible and with more EU demand, more attention from EU companies?
Fingers crossed for that second print...
I just emailed a Polish warehouse to see if I can warehouse with them.
Contact 3rd Space Games in the UK to see about preordereing through them. Preorderingins. Oreprrdeing. Preordering.
Preordering.
"Tanks" Tim, looking forward for the EU updates!
A quick note: The warehouse isn't shipping this week. I'll send a proper email tomorrow. My internet is out and I can't do proper work right now.
Hey Tim! I’m new to itch.io so maybe I’m doing something wrong but I haven’t received any of your update or follow up emails you’ve mentioned here.
Hi, I just wanted you to know that I appreciated the inclusion of the community copies so much that I ordered before the SU&SD [edit: review] had really gotten started. Well done, and I look forward to receiving my book.
<high five>
However, I really hope someone offers you a commercial print run. This thing deserves a place on the shelf in FLGS :)
DTRPG is doing physical copies again, picked up two for $110AUD delivered, _heaps_ better price :)
Oh, I didn't even know! I appreciate their get-it-donedness!
I wish shipping cost to europe were not so expesive (it's from half of the book price to like twice the price 😲)
is tehre any hope this could change ? 🥺
Shipping from the US is stupidly expensive. Some EU/UK shops have the book, so shop around I guess?
